Emily W. Hillsman, CPA is the third generation of a family run accounting business, which started with her grandfather, David Agopian. The offices at 914 Otto Street were built by Mr. Agopian in 1949, where he practiced until his death in 1961. Emily’s parents, Ralph & Evelyn Waters, continued the accounting practice, and Emily joined them in 1980. Ralph died in 1992, and Evelyn in 2005. The fourth generation is currently represented by Emily’s son-in-law, Matthew K. Vahalik, whose law office is also at 914 Otto. The fifth generation is "in training". With a warm smile and a warmer heart, office administrator and family member Patricia Sanders has been greeting everyone who enters the office since 1976.
Emily’s practice areas include tax planning and accounting, including compilations and reviews, and tax return preparation for individuals, businesses estates and trusts. She is also a life insurance agent and a registered representative with Lincoln Financial Securities Corporation.
She is on a first-name basis with her clients, many of whom are also third-generation with the family. Emily is well known in the Brookshire and surrounding areas for her business and community involvement. She is currently in her tenth year of service on the board of trustees of the Royal Independent School District, and in her twenty-seventh year of service as a volunteer and member of the board of directors of Brookshire Pattison Area Volunteer Emergency Ambulance Corp.
