Colony Cellars Winery, a new winery with history. The first grapes were planted in 1999. Rows are 450 feet in length and planted a little over one-half miles of trellis each year. The vineyard has a total of seven grapes. Black, Spanish, Blanc duBois, Chambourcin, Magnolia, Carlos, Noble and Cynthiana. Starting in 2004, we planted one thousand Christmas trees year. Every tree and every grape plant has it’s own water spigot. Ultimately, we will have thirty acres of grapes and twelve acres of Christmas trees. Our business was opened November 10, 2006.
Special Functions:
At Colony Cellars, we strive to provide you and your special needs with tailored functions. Our property offers a range of features which you can use as a background to your private or organizational needs.
Tasting Parties, Moonlight Vineyard Tours, Private Wine Tastings and other type of private functions can be arranged. We will help you plan your function. 877-377-WINE (9463)
Tours:
The property is roughly 1/3rd of a mile by ¾ of a mile. You are welcome to make unaccompanied tours at any time.
Trolley tours run daily at 11:00AM, 1:00PM and 3:00PM. Where there are six or more people wanting a trolley tour they will run the trolley at forty minutes before or after any of these times. The trolley tour includes the Christmas Tree Forest, the entire vineyard, and some special features. The tour includes a tasting of all twelve of their wines and a delicious snack tray with the tastings. Call for pricing 877-377-9463
Tastings:
Free tastings are available for up to four wines. If you wish to taste the entire pallet of twelve wines there is a $3.00 charge. A delicious snack tray that is included with a full tasting for an additional $2.75.
There is no formality to any of the functions. If you are planning on a Trolley tour you probably should call ahead to secure your tickets and reservations for the time you desire. If you bring children, you should plan on adult supervision for their protection. Snack trays and Snack Sacks are available. We also offer food for the birds and fish. Come and visit us!
COMING FROM HWY 290:
Take the FM359 South exit at Hempstead and follow it about 13 miles south to Monaville. After you pass the Thirsty Parrot on your left, you will see a small gas station/grocery store on your right and a blinking yellow light. Turn LEFT. Follow the road about 2 miles. There will be 2 S curves and we are located on the right at the second curve. If you turn the wrong way at the light, you will be on FM1887 going towards Hempstead. Turn around!
COMING FROM I-10:
Take the FM359 North exit at Brookshire. Follow it about 14 miles north to Monaville. At the blinking yellow light with the small gas/grocery station on the left, turn RIGHT and follow the road about 2 miles. There will be 2 S curves and we are located on the right at the second curve. If you turn the wrong way at the light, you will be on FM1887 going towards Hempstead. Turn around!
