Brookshire has received its new ambulance this week and Maxine Pate, Director of Brookshire EMS was kind enough to bring it by The Times Tribune so that we could see it in all it's glory.
The ambulance was purchased from a $120,071 grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). The new ambulance was $102,071 and $18,000 was paid on the lease for the old ambulance that Brookshire EMS has had since 1993. As you can imagine, it was time for a new ambulance. “We appreciate the State of Texas approving this fund for us. We can continue providing the same level of service as we have in the past for the Brookshire community and surrounding areas, except now we have a back-up ambulance as needed,” said Pate.
Several reasons for a back-up ambulance could be if there were multiple ambulance calls or if one of the ambulances was in for repair or routine maintenance. “Two crews are not normally scheduled to man both ambulances, but off-duty personnel are always ready to jump into action,” said Pate.
The equipment on the new ambulance has the same patient-care and service capabilities as the older ambulance.
