On Friday, June 19, the Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary held a garage sale.  They would like to thank everyone that came by.  All proceeds will go towards Gaiter Aid and bottled water for the firemen while they fight fires.  If you would like to make monitory donations, please contact Frances Gibbs at 713-560-4105.

Brookshire Celebrates Juneteenth

Brookshire celebrated its 18^th annual Juneteenth Festival. The festivities began June 19^th with the Juneteenth Youth Summit.  Later that night everyone gathered in the Convention Center for the Gospel Praise Explosion that featured various Church Choirs, Music Groups, Soloists and Praise Dancers.

On Saturday, June 20^th, the celebration continued with Mayor Joseph Vaughn leading the parade through Brookshire. This year we were happy to see some new faces in the lineup, such as Cerda*Fied Specialists pulling a trailer displaying their beautiful Wrought Iron work, and Stephens Flowers Funeral Services that are new to our area.  We were happy to see Royal High School Marching Band take the time out of their summer to join in.  A BIG Thank You goes out to Chief Prejean and the Brookshire P.D. for helping with traffic control.

After the parade, everyone found their way to Hovas Park for a full day of fun. The water park was open and a rock wall was brought in to climb.  We were happy to see more booths this year….lots of variety from which to select.  We were happy to have Ms. Willie Mae Jenkins, an area author, promoting her new book, “My Calling.” 

We would like to thank everyone who helped and participated in making this another great success again this year.
