A Rhythm Journey!
ARTreach was awarded a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts to help bring performing artist Dan Egger-Belandria from Austin, Texas to the Youth Activities Center in Richmond/Rosenberg. Dan Egger-Belandria is a professional performing artist listed on the TCA roster. His workshop is titled “Rhythm in Action” and introduces percussion instruments and drumming styles as an effective tool for expressing emotions, communicating and managing stress. Dan is able to demonstrate through music the impact of a person’s choice to take action or take inaction to make good things happen. This is a motivational presentation that will spark enthusiasm and promote a healthier group dynamic.

ARTreach Mural

This ARTreach Mural is comprised of 60 panels painted by students and artists from around the world. It will be on display until May 30th at Tradition Bank/ Grand Parkway. From there the mural moves to Pattison Elementary on June 1st as part of a ceremony that acknowledges the Pattison Elementary Art Club and the Art teachers also involved. The mural project was designed and workshops facilitated by ARTreach roster artist Vickie McMillan and will be officially unveiled statewide at the Texas PTA Summer Leadership Seminar on July 24th . The mural will be permanently installed at the Congress of Parents and Teachers offices in Austin to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Texas PTA.

Sweet Spirit Productions Helped Out Rachael Ray

Rachael Ray did an amazingly good deed by providing a real wedding for 33 Houston-area brides who were left in the cold as two local venues, Bella Terraza in the Galleria area and the Tuscany in Garden Oaks, filed for bankruptcy after Hurricane Ike. This mass wedding rescue at Minute Maid Park was featured on her November 21, 2008 show!

Visit Rachael's daytime talk show website which credits Sweet Spirit Productions. A few of the other vendors who volunteered their time and resources were David's Bridal, Men's Wearhouse, Darryl & Co., and Shutterfly Productions.

This photo was taken on June 29, 2008 (many thanks to Tina Wright for snapping this shot) after the Mass that celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Parish of St. Maximilian Kolbe in Houston, Texas. It was also on the day of the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul. Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, presiding Archbishop of Galveston-Houston was there for the special mass and jubilee celebration.

Sandy was there producing a commemorative event video for the Parish of St. Maximilian Koble. The Parish is undergoing trememous growth and they are looking forward for groundbreaking a new church on Sept 21, 2008.

In a couple of weeks, Sweet Spirit Productions will post a highlight video of the Jubilee Celebration For The 25th Anniversary of the Parish of St. Maximilian Koble.

Grand Opening / Ribbon Cutting for University of Houston Small Business Development Center of Fort Bend County

Today, May 21, 2008, we attended the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for University of Houston Small Business Development Center of Fort Bend County newest location in Katy, Texas. Their new address is 1172 Westborough Drive, Suite 226, Katy, Texas 77449 (Tele: 281-499-9787), and their new location is in the brand new Katy Commerce Center. This building is a "Green Building" and has some great new environmental correct amentities and attributes that are mind-boggeling. Go by and see Joe Decker, Director of UofH-SBDC-Fort Bend County to tour their new facilities and also visit with Earl Stout, manager of the Katy Commerce Center (Tele: 281-206-0162).

"A Place Called Katy" Produced for Katy ISD's VIP Breakfast

Sweet Spirit Productions was hired to produce a video called "A Place Called Katy". It debuted at the Merrill Center in Katy, Texas on April 17, 2008 for Katy ISD's VIPS Breakfast that honored all of the volunteers in public schools and partners in education at Katy ISD.

Video Debut at Katy ARTreach Gala

This video documented a pilot project at Morton Ranch Junior High School in which kids who attended an hour-long tutorial after school were treated to special classes afterwards in hip hop dance, graffiti art, spoken word, or soccer. The project resulted in kid's exhibiting improved grades, better attitudes, and greater confidence. We got to debut our video at the Katy ARTreach Gala on Sunday evening, October 21, 2007 at Don McGill Toyota. The evening was a great success and we enjoyed the exciting auction of artwork by artist David Garibaldi. Garibaldi created a 6-foot portrait of Bono in his Rhythm and Hue Performance art show at the I Love Katy festival and the Radiant Life Church donated the artwork to Katy ARTreach!  The Hub Cap art created by the nominated Heroes Among Us (including Sweet Spirit Productions!) was auctioned off and we enjoyed great entertainment by URGEWORKS, Strike 3 Percussion, and Soul Fruit. Dinner was catered by Hasta La Pasta.

Happy Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day and even though my Mom has passed, I am extremely blessed to have a daughter who I may help celebrate with her a special day for her Momma.
